Edison

What it does

The project is named Edison, inspired by the inventor Thomas Alva Edison, symbolizing innovation and perseverance. Over the past six months, I’ve explored various techniques to address climate change, many of which didn’t meet the challenge. However, like Edison’s journey of discovering what doesn’t work, these setbacks have fueled my determination to find impactful solutions.

Edison leverages the LangGraph framework and databases for material pollution, electricity emissions, and travel emissions to calculate environmental costs accurately. Calculating CO2 emissions for e-commerce products is complex.
The project has two main features: an emission calculator and a sustainability nudge generator. The nudge generator subtly suggests eco-friendly alternatives during relevant Google searches, like choosing trains over flights, based on fine-tuned gemini model that intelligently decides when to provide these nudges. By storing previously calculated reports, the system reduces API requests and improves efficiency.
